Everyone who lives in Houston has probable been to the Space Center, or the Houston Zoo, but did you know that there was an aquarium as well? There is. It has been accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, is open all year round from 10-10 Sunday through Thursday, and open until 11 Friday and Saturday. Regular admission is just $9.25 for adults and kids over 12. Kids 2-12 pay just $6.25 to get in and if they are under two they are free. There is extra charges for getting on some of the special rides like the Shark Voyage, Aquatic Carousel, Ferris Wheel and Light house Dive, but the rest of the exhibits are free of charge.

How about getting real hands on adventures in the Discovery Rig, seeing a real shark nursery, complete with real eggs and Bamboo Shark babies!

Both are open year round for public viewing and explorations.
If that isn't enough for you, then try the Mercer Arboretum and Botanical Garden located a short drive to Humble. This 250 acre garden is home to a wondrous collection of cultivated and natural plant life, has an outdoor class room where people can learn what it takes to work in and among all of the plant life. It also includes miles of hiking trails, and a picnic area to unwind with a sandwich after a long day of exploration.
Hey, if that isn't enough for you, maybe you should try a visit to the only house made entirely from recycled beer cans. This unique house was created by the late John Milkovisch, who initially just wanted to do one side of his house, but ended up doing the whole thing. Everything from the font gate to the minimalist artwork is made from flattened, bleached out beer cans. There is an Art Car Museum just five minutes away, and you can even see Strawberry Fields, David Adickes' Studio where there are 26 foot Beatles' statues, as well as many giant heads of past presidents.
